Aesthetic Dilemma

Two images I found whilst in Sydney this weekend. Put together they sum up my studio dilemma, or maybe just form the material that informs my practice. The everyday use of things along with the forgotten use of ornamentation on homes that once was so important in their design and status. I see so much beauty in the unexpected daily utility and conversely admire the piece of added decoration on a front portico. How do the two come together as a body of work. Is this a case of thinking too hard?
